It may sound contradictory, but hoji-cha is a topaz-color green tea. As an alternative to bright-tasting sencha, hoji-cha is just as popular among Japanese consumers.
Our hoji-cha is slowly roasted over the high heat of a charcoal fire. The roasting process removes most of the astringency found in other green teas, and unlike fermented black teas, hoji-cha has few tannins. HISHIDAI hoji-cha has a round, smooth taste and complex, toasty aroma. This tea is a good choice for people looking for low-caffeine Japanese green tea. Use boiling water to brew hoji-cha for a fully developed aroma and flavor.
Genmai-cha is another popular Japanese green tea. It’s blended with a small amount of matcha powder, roasted brown rice and black beans. Matcha intensifies the tea’s vivid green hue while brown rice and black beans add a distinctively nutty, earthy flavor and nose. Use boiling water to brew this tea for the richest aroma and taste. Good for everyday drinking.
